Positive by Nature has a layered meaning: First, the name refers to the English expression that describes someone who has a naturally positive attitude. This means you naturally tend to see the good, and that’s an incredibly valuable gift you can give to the world. If you consciously focus on the positive, you can not only experience more happiness yourself but also make a real positive impact on the world around you. And the best news? If you don’t naturally have that positive focus, you can still learn it!

Nice to meet you! I’m Harriët van der Weele, with the unofficial nickname “harrie”. As a little girl, I was already in love with this beautiful planet and felt incomprehension and anger about how disrespectfully we treat the earth. It seems as if we don’t realize that we are part of this delicate ecosystem. That incomprehension drove me for years in the fight against multinationals and their reckless exploitation of our natural resources. I literally took to the barricades, as part of the international environmental movement. After a decade of fighting from negativity, I had to acknowledge that this was taking its toll, and the light I so wanted to be for the world began to slowly fade.

It was not an easy process to accept that the only thing I truly have influence over is my own actions. And that the energy I need to make a positive difference can only come from rest and connection. Now I still live and work with that same passion for our planet, but with a different approach: not resisting what worries you, but contributing to what feels good.

In addition to being a communication advisor, speaker, and conference chair, I am a certified mindfulness trainer and guide people to do the inner work that is so desperately needed for the transition to a sustainable society.
